FAQs

The answer to my question isn't here, what do I do?
Feel free to send a DM, email or Tumblr ask! Asks can be sent anonymously, but answers will be public.
What are the requirements for volunteering as a creator?
Anyone can join! Regardless of your age, experience or follower count, everyone is more than welcome to create something for this event.
How will the prompts be assigned?
When you sign up, you will answer a series of questions about your preferences, such as the characters and ships you are willing to write/draw for, your icks, whether you're accepting NSFW etc. We will try as best as we can to match the prompts we receive with your profile. Note that if you are under 18, you will only be given SFW prompts.
Can I work on multiple prompts at once?
In order to spread out the workload evenly, and to prevent stress, we ask that you finish one prompt before we assign you another. Email or DM us when you finish and we'll assign you another as soon as possible.
Can I do both art and writing prompts?
Yes, you can sign up to be both an artist and a writer. However, you can still only have one prompt at a time.
Can I say no to a prompt I don't like?
Of course!
How polished should my work be?
You are not expected to submit a fully rendered art or a multi-chaptered fic! So you don't burn yourself out, please only consider creating sketches and short drabbles. Of course, if you prefer to submit a polished work, you are free to do that, but it isn't the expectation.
When/where do I post art?
Please upload your art to Twitter or Tumblr and tag the prompter. For an anonymous prompter, you are free to post the piece publicly on Twitter and Tumblr without tagging the prompter, but be sure to tag the event page. If you want to remain anonymous or don't have Twitter/Tumblr, we can post your work for you on the event page.
When/where do I post fanfiction?
Please upload your fanfiction to AO3 and add it to the collection. Post the link to either Twitter or Tumblr and tag the prompter. For an anonymous prompter, you are free to post the piece publicly on Twitter and Tumblr without tagging the prompter, but be sure to tag the event page. If you want to remain anonymous or don't have Twitter/Tumblr, we can post your work for you on the event page.
What do I do if I haven't received any prompts?
If the donation period has started and you haven't received any prompts, double check that your DMs are open and nothing was sent to a spam folder. If you still don't see anything, then there may be more volunteers than prompts, especially at the beginning of the donation period.
I don't want to participate anymore.
No matter the reason, just let us know that you don't want to work on any more prompts and we'll take you off the list. If you have a currently assigned one that you aren't able to finish, tell us so we can reassign it.
Where do I donate?
You can donate to the causes listed on the donation page. We have decided to give you different options as there are multiple ways to help the people in Gaza.
How will donations be handled?
All donations will be made directly to the causes listed on the donation page. We will not manage any money, we just need you to send a proof of donation when submitting your prompt.
What counts as proof of donation?
Any screenshot showing that you donated to one of the organizations above during the donation period counts as proof of donation. You can attach the file to the prompt submission form. Donations made before the donation period are not valid.
How do I submit a prompt?
You can submit a prompt via the donation form.
What kind of prompts can I submit?
Your prompts should be simple and not overly detailed, e.g.:
Roach is trying a new recipe, but he is missing one special ingredient...
Angel/demon AU where demon Stede looks after angel Ed with a broken wing
Garlic Soup cuddle pile!
NSFW and angst are welcome, however, please avoid topics that could be filed under 'dead dove' (such as major character death, noncon, underage or intense gore). Donors under 18 can only submit SFW prompts. How many prompts can I submit?
You can submit an unlimited amount of prompts, so long as you have a large enough donation to cover them. You can get 1 SFW prompt for every $4 USD and 1 NSFW prompt for every $8 USD. (The minimum donation fee is 4$ as it is currently the cheapest plan you can purchase from Simly.)
My donation wasn't in USD, what do I do?
Convert your donation into USD or the prices into your currency, and do the calculations as normal. A non-comprehensive list of conversions for reference:
$4 USD = €3.71; £3.13; $6.02 AUD; $5.50 CAD
$8 USD = €7.43; £6.27; $12.05 AUD; $11.00 CAD
How will I receive the fanfic or fanart?
Volunteers will post works and tag you on Twitter or Tumblr.
How will this help the people of Gaza?
The purpose of the Gotcha for Gaza events is to encourage people to donate directly to aid organizations and other fundraisers, in exchange for fanart/fanfics made by volunteers. The event organizers are only here to manage the prompts and raise awareness for the fundraisers. All money donated goes directly to the causes listed on the donation page.
